Why Learn With Me?
I believe being an artist is a way of life. The skill of drawing, for me, is not about learning to copy what you see; it’s about learning how to see deeply and then express what you saw and felt.
But to see deeply, you need to know how to live well first. And that can be a slow, thoughtful process, very specific to an individual, that includes not only learning the skill of drawing but also understanding oneself.
My role isn’t to make your work look like mine. It’s to help you understand the principles behind your decisions by asking hard questions, build confidence through practice, and develop your own artistic voice.
I aim to create a supportive space where curiosity, exploration, and play are encouraged, mistakes are a necessary part of the process, and progress is measured by how much joy you have from your practice and understanding rather than perfection. I adapt each lesson to your goals, pace, and interests.
Rather than focusing solely on technical drawing skills, think of this as guidance along your own artistic path.
If this approach speaks to you, I'd be happy to help you on your drawing journey.

-
Not at all. I work with beginners as well as experienced artists looking to refine their skills. Lessons are tailored to where you are now and where you'd like to go.
-
If you're looking for thoughtful, personalised guidance rather than a one-size-fits-all lesson, we'll likely work well together.
I believe the best learning happens in a supportive, encouraging environment. My goal isn't just to teach technique, but to help you become a more observant, confident artist. Rather than asking you to copy my work, I'll help you understand why something works so you can make your own artistic decisions.
-
Absolutely. You can come with a specific challenge, project, or question, or I can create a lesson plan based on your needs.
-
Each online video call lasts 60 min.
-
I'll send a simple materials list before your first lesson. If you're just starting out, I can recommend affordable supplies.
-
Sure. My own specialist practice is primarily in pencil and charcoal, so these are the mediums I know most deeply and can demonstrate most confidently. My expertise is strongest in drawing and monochromatic work. However, many of the principles I teach—such as observation, proportion, values, form, composition and artistic expression—translate across different mediums and can provide a strong foundation for painting and other forms of art.
I wouldn't claim to teach every medium-specific technique, such as advanced watercolour methods or colour theory, if that's outside my area of expertise. Instead, I focus on helping you develop the underlying artistic skills and confidence that can be applied to your chosen medium.
If your goal is to explore your own artistic expression, rather than simply learn the technical rules of a particular medium, then my teaching can still be very relevant to you.
